MAISON MARGIELA PARIS

A contemporary Belgian designer born in 1957, Martin Margiela distinguishes himself from his contemporaries by his taste for anonymity and the collective. After studying at the Academy of Fine Arts in Antwerp where he attended the "Antwerp Six" and a few years as a freelancer, he moved to Paris and became Jean-Paul Gaultier's right-hand man from 1984 to 1987. He created his own fashion house, Maison Martin Margiela, MMM, in 1988 with Jerry Meirens. At the same time, he collaborated with Hermès between 1998 and 2003 as artistic director of the women's lines, which contributed to its lighting.
